Periodontics

What is periodontal? The term "periodontal" stems from two Greekwords: "perio" meaning "around" and "dontal" meaning "tooth". The periodontium is subject to morphologic and functional variations as well as changes associated with aging and systemic diseases.

Bleeding gums and bad taste in the mouth may be caused by plaque and / or dental calculus (tartar). These problems can be solved by procedures such as scraping, smoothing and polishing corona-root.

Periodontal disease affects the tissues that support and anchor the teeth (gums, bone and periodontal ligament). It is usually painless. The accumulation of dental plaque on the tooth surface and in the gingival sulcus is what causesperiodontal diseases.
